Many of our new patients come to us with questions, and our friendly and knowledgeable dentist and team members are always happy to help. Below you’ll find the answers to some of the questions we hear most often. These frequently asked questions can help guide you to more information about a variety of subjects. Don’t ever hesitate to call Vista Dental Care if you’d like to find out more or need to schedule an appointment in our family-friendly Sparks, NV dentistry practice.

How often should I visit the dentist?

In keeping with the recommendations of the American Dental Association, we encourage patients to visit our team at least two times a year. However, we will create a personalized care plan that meets your unique needs. Patients who suffer from gum disease, frequent tooth decay, or who otherwise need to improve their oral health may need to visit our office for checkups more frequently.

What is periodontal disease?

Better known as gum disease, periodontal disease occurs when plaque and tartar buildup at the gum line irritates soft tissue leading to the breakdown of connective gum and bone tissues. We offer a variety of periodontal therapies to improve oral health for patients who suffer from gum disease.

Can I bring my kids to your office?

We are a family office, so you can bring every member of your family to our practice. That includes kids! Our team has years of experience providing children’s dental care to keep our young patients smiling, and we work hard to help them look forward to visiting the dentist.

Who should consider implant supported tooth replacement?

Dental implants replace the lost root structure of missing teeth. These implant posts can improve the form and function of any replacement tooth or prosthetic. If you’re missing one or more teeth, we will review all of your potential options during a tooth replacement consultation.

How does Invisalign orthodontics work?

Invisalign uses a series of clear plastic alignment trays to gently move teeth into their ideal position over the course of several months (usually ten to eighteen). They snap into position over teeth where they’re almost completely invisible to the untrained observer. Each set of alignment trays is worn for about two weeks and exchanged for the next set in the series.

Why should I visit a dentist for sleep apnea treatment?

All dentist have advanced training in the function of the oral and facial structures. That includes the airway. It’s no surprise we’re able to provide patients with an effective sleep apnea treatment method to keep the airway clear during sleep. We use custom crafted oral appliances to adjust the position of the jaw, tighten throat muscles, and allow patients to breathe deeply and unimpeded throughout the night.

Do you take my insurance?

Our knowledgeable team is happy to process and file claims for most major dental insurance providers, and we offer in-network coverage for many of the major plans. If you have questions about your specific benefit plan, please don’t hesitate to contact our team to find out more.
